Helen C. Wilder- Executive Director
Helen C. Wilder holds a Masters Degree in Speech Pathology, a Professional Certificate in Education Administration and New York State Certification in School District Administration. She was appointed Executive Director in July 1992. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Wilder was the Assistant Director for five years. She was initially employed by NIS in 1978 as the supervisor of speech, language and audiology services. Ms. Wilder spent twelve years in direct service to infants, toddlers and preschoolers with disabilities, and then oversaw the NIS Early Intervention program for five years.
Betsy Kaplan- Assistant Director
Betsy Kaplan holds a Masters Degree in Education of the Hearing Impaired, New York State Certification as a special education teacher and certification in School Administration and Supervision. She began working at NIS in 1979 as a special educator, and in 1992 was appointed to the position of Infant Program Director. In 1992, she became the Assistant Director of the agency where she continues to oversee Early Intervention Services, and the Autism Interdisciplinary Model Program.
Theresa Mahoney- Preschool Program Director
Theresa Mahoney holds a Masters Degree in Speech Pathology and New York State Certification in School District Administration. She has been with NIS since 1987, working with infants, toddler and preschoolers and their families. In 1997 she was appointed as the Coordinator of the Speech and Language Department and in 2001, she was appointed preschool Program Director. Ms. Mahoney oversees our center based preschool program for children with and without disabilities.
Kristen Moran-Director of Clinical Services
Kristen Moran holds a Masters degree in Social Work and a New York State license as a social worker. She was hired as the Clinical Coordinator in 1999 and then appointed as the Director of Clinical Services in 2007. Ms. Moran oversees all preschool evaluations, interfacing with the committees of preschool special education of various school districts. She also supervises all after school Related Service provision and oversees the delivery of clinical therapeutic services to our center based students.
Carol Walsh-Early Childhood Program Director
Carol Walsh holds a Masters Degree in Education and New York State Teacher Certification, grades Pre-K through 6th. She joined our staff in 2005 as the Director of our Child Care Center. In 2007 she was appointed the Early Childhood Program Director. She oversees our day care center, and programs for our typically developing children including nursery, preschool and the Universal Pre-Kindergarten programs.
Edward Rosario-Assistant Director of Human Resources
Edward Rosario holds a Masters Degree and New York State Certification in Human Resource Management. He is responsible for ensuring staff compliance regarding licensure, certification, contracts and current New York State requirements. He also oversees new employment and maintains staff benefits status.
Paula Scott-Director of Development
Paula Scott holds a Masters Degree in Special Education, a second Masters Degree in Reading, and New York State Certification as a Special Education Teacher. She joined NIS in 1981 and worked as a classroom teacher and a Resource Room teacher. In 2002, she was appointed to the position of Director of Development. She oversees our fundraising efforts, public relations, and coordinates the Parent Council.
