Parent Programs

Among our founding principles is the belief in a parent’s right to have a voice in their child’s education. We believe that parents have a right to be well informed and to have a forum to ask questions and exchange ideas.

Our goal is to give parents insight into research that supports educational and clinical choices, to learn about practical tools to use at home, and to deepen the communication between families and NIS staff.

Our Parent Education workshops feature both NIS staff members and speakers from outside agencies. Workshops are offered in the evening and during the school day.

Parent workshops are offered on a range of topics including:

  • Child Development
  • Early Childhood
  • Education
  • Family Issues
  • Health Issues
  • Transitioning Children into the Public School System
  • Community Resources

We also have an active Parent Council where parents get together to build new school programs and plan the school's fundraisers.

Parents are also welcome to attend monthly thematic special events during school hours in our Open Space.
